Hello Folks,
Glenn Torrance is presently working on a 1/2 scale prototype Fokker Dr.I!!!
I hope there is enough interest out there that he is going to make this available as a kit in the future, too.
He asked me to do some 1/2 scale streamline tubings for him. Here is my result so far.

I can hardly wait to see these employed on his model.
Enjoy!

This one in England must be pretty close to half judging by the people near by.

Hi Achim,
Glenn has some pictures of the project coming along at his website, the struts look like they will do the job just great.

I have just finished the cutting of the Layers for the Axial repro airscrew we need for our full size replicas. Now I have left plenty of original wood "waste".
I wonder if a 1/2 scale airscrew mede from the original wood rests would work with a 1/2 size model of the Dr.I and the D.VIII ????
Lyle: I was looking for the 1/2 scale Dr.I on Glennīs website, but somehow missed it. Do you have a direct link pointing me to the right location?
Thanks Achim

Hi Achim .. I think it depends greatly on the type of engine used in the model. If it was geared, then it could possibly turn a scale size propeller. In general, r/c model engines dont have the power to turn scale size propellers. Because the models are so much lighter than "scaled down" aircraft, they fly with relatively less powerful engines. Most people at competitions fit a scale propeller for static judging then change to a "working propeller" for flight. An example is , my 1/4 scale Spad VII flys with a 16" propeller which produces the most thrust for my engine. I fit a 25" propeller for static judging. However, having watched your thread .. Im sure it would look magnificent as a static prop... hope this helps some

The engines we have are ZDZ 160cc twin engine.... basically, a 15 hp engine... We will be breaking the engines in with a 31 - 10 inch. Considering a 34 - 10 inch flying prop. We have thought about making a gear reduction system to swing a 1/2 scale prop but have not gone any further than just talk. Our 1/4 scale models can not swing the 26 inch scale prop, so, we use it for static. Obviously, 1/2 scale props from Achim are more than welcomed. One of the goals is to compete the 1/2 scales at Top Gun 06... Just got to keep the total weight down to 55 lbs.... Thank goodness for carbon fiber...
