Today I was able to order a Flair Fokker DVII from Radical RC. (I placed an order with Dave, who seems like a decent fellow.) He asked me an interesting question. He wondered why so many people have been asking for the Flair DVII lately. I didn't get any numbers. But he said that recently he's gotten more orders and inquiries than usual. I didn't know exactly what to tell him. But off the top of my head, I wondered if the movie The Aviator may have influenced some RC'rs to look for one. That or the interest in the Balsa USA DVII may have trickled down to those not inclined to build in 1/4 scale. Any thoughts?

Bruno,
I think you may have hit it on the head. Many folks do not want to build in 1/4 scale. It becomes either a cost issue of a transportation issue. The Flair at 1/6 is big enough to be able to detail yet small enough to make for easy transport.
Personally I would like to see someone come out with a line of 1/5 models.

Hi Doug,
Flair is the only manufacturer I can think of with a selection of various WWI types, in (or near) the size we want. Another is Funaero (www.funaero.com), with their .60 size Abatros D.II, D.III and S.E.5A. I've heard mostly good things about them. Hobby Hangar makes a Fokker DVII and S.E. 5 also. But, one day I will succumb, and get BUSA's 1/4 scale DVII.
