The latest issue of Model Airplane News has a construction article for the Fokker E.V by David Johnson with some nice photos. Here's my version of the tail surfaces; it's pure simplicity. Outlines match the Datafile perfectly.

Looking good Lyle. Have you decided on the markings?

Mike,
I'm thinking of doing Altemeier's Jasta 24 mount--

Sharp! Are you going to order the Glen Torrence fabric or hand paint the Lozenge Camo?

Hi Mike,
I really love Glenn's fabric, it's got a great look to it. I've been following a thread over at RCSCALEBUILDER.com about its use, it's not the easiest stuff to use but the results are usually good. I'm still thinking about painting my own now that I've got the system down...

Did Glenn provide information on how the wings were stained? The upper surface was true green and mocha, and the under suface was azure blue and violet. There were several patterns , 3, 4,5 and 6.

Dan,
I received the stains from Koloman (Austria) a while back. I have not used
them yet as we are doing a 1/2 scale D8 and I didn't want to waste the small supply I have. Langdon (Australia) was doing some sun testing as to see how fast the stains might fade. I have not heard any progess on that. I believe you sent me some patterns a while back that I have in my files. I haven't talked to Tom lately on the color scheme as were in the thick of building the subwing and cowl area for the 1/2 scale.

Hi Glenn,
We have pretty bright sun out here and the stains faded almost completely within weeks but Koloman had a UV resistant varnish coating applied to other samples and they prooved to be excellent. I'm not sure of the treatment but if you contact him I'm sure he will help.

Langdon:
When you consider the weather in northern France and Belgium, I don't think the subject of strong sunlight was ever a consideration to Fokker. The bigger problem was the humidity and rain effect on the plywood. I would guess Australia is much like our south western area of the U.S.A.
Blue skies,

P.S. That wing is alsolutely gorgeous!
I hope you keep us posted on the solution of the aileron hinge pins?

Went out yesterday and bought the magazine but then I realized that a version of the article appears on the www.modelairplanenews.com (www.modelairplanenews.com) website. Has additional high-res photos as well. Beautifully done model.
