Here's an update on my latest kit. It will be a Hanriot (pronounced "on-rio") HD1 1/4 scale biplane. The wings are almost ready for covering and I'm working on the tail right now, moving towards the cowl. It is a real nice change from the Fokkers. The maiden flight will be next month and trying to have kits at Toledo. I will use a YS120 engine which should do well with the 12-14 lb range. The top wingspan is 86 inches. Here's two photos, one of the aileron and the other of the top wing - Glenn

The wings look great! Keep the photos coming as the build progresses. Looking forward to a flight report too.

Hi Glenn,
Very pretty aeroplane! Also looking forward to seeing more of it. Whose scheme are you doing?

I'm planning to do serial number 562 which was flown by Tenente Antonio Bogliolo of the 81st Squadron. Page 5 in Datafile 12 has a photo. This Italian squadron had some of the most colorful Hanriots flying. I am working on the colors now, pinging Alan Toelle for some suggestions. I will have a decal transfer set made as I rather not mask off all those stars. I will add a couple of more photos in a day or so, as I have the tail just about done.

Greetings Glenn, Wish you had this kit produced @ 5 yrs ago :) I had chosen then to build the Hanriot because I liked the outlines of the Nieuport,Sopwith design but at that time Proctor offered Duncan Hutson`s kit. I thought you always stay in the German design on kit producing but Happy see this. Duncan`s kit was not up to par as I thought with a few issues but especially with the quality of the wood for the price of that kit but realizing it might not be of his control tho. I had purchased your DR1 years ago and was amazed of the excellent wood provided and the total accuracy of the outlines. Hope you keep us informed on the progress of the HD1 and posting a few photos. Thanks Jim

FlyingRazor:
Have you received the roland drawings? I am curious how you liked them?
I had a little involvement with Marvin Hand when he was restoring his Hanriot HD-1. I met Willy Coppens then. What an interesting man.
Blue skies,
