Is anyone familiar with the old AMT DH4 kit in 1:48? I at first assumed it was a re-issue of the old Aurora kit, but the sprues look different. If it is different, any comments on the comparative accuracy?

It's quite a different kit, as you say. It's fairly crude and represents the American DH4. The wings are awful with coarse fabric detail and little in the way of camber. I did think it might be a good place to start for a Nine Ack, but I never did try it.
I don't know when it first appeared but there is no mention of it in "Scale Model Aircraft in Plastic Card" (http://www.wwimodeler.com/harry/woodman.html)
