Wilhelm Bittrich of Jasta 79-why no listing in Franks book of JASta Pilots?

Read the introduction. "It is by no means complete but it is a basis for further research, and at least the most informative collection of data on this subject in one book." Ergo, we missed him.

As an aside, I have also seen Bittrich referenced as being a member of Jasta 37. No where is it reported when he might have been a member. If you have definitive information regarding his service with Jasta 79b I would love to learn of it. Perhaps Reinhard can help. R.

You were right. I was wrong.
He served with JAGDSTAFFEL 37 and FAA 226

I knew I'd seen it somewhere. Taking information given on any web site (including this one for that matter), without any source of original information, can be very misleading. After all, anyone can type something, and put that information on a web site. That doesn't make it fact.

Tried to reference another web site - failed.

Let's try this:

Note that this SS web site has him in Jasta 4, which we know is nonsense. Conclusion, be very careful taking information off any web page. Anyone can just type anything. Doesn't mean it's a fact. R.
