What I have, is not confirmed, If our German friends can confirm or amend my list, it would be most appreciated.

Hello,
I can only quote Bodenschatz: Göring ordered the Jagdgeschwader Richthofen to fly back to Darmstadt/ Germany. ... In the meantime order came to hand out the planes to the French authorities in Straßburg (were there already French troops?)

Hi Dan San.
Do you have the equivalent information for the Kests?
[The reason I ask is I've been told by my brother which airfield, (according to family history), my grandfather was ordered to take his SSW D.III to; but the town he mentioned was quite some considerable distance from Freiburg where Kest 5 were based at war's end, and I'm not sure it even had an airfield then].
Mike.
BTW; with which Armee Gruppe would Kest 5 have been based?

Hi Dan-San, (or indeed any other expert).
What my brother actually told me is that at war's end my grandfather, Fritz Beckhardt was told to crash his plane on the runway at "Gottingen". The rest you doubtless know; ie that he refused to surrender his plane and instead flew his SSW DIII to Switzerland.
I need to know if it is credible that his demobilisation destination was indeed Gottingen (sorry no umlauts).
[Don't worry if the answer is "No", Dan-San; because I believe I have just solved the mystery of where he was ordered to crash-land - namely somewhere else that sounds quite similar].
Thanks.
MikeC.
