The Sioux head was the official sqn. insignia of the Esc. Laf. and the 103rd Aero, but the shield behind was not.
Some the the planes DID have quite elaborate personal markings, so could be a previously un-recorded marking??,
tho it also looks a bit large to fit on the fuselage of a SPAD!
I suspect this is a wall placque or a post war item.
Any info on where it came from and how big it is??

Cliff, thank you. It is definitely a period aircraft panel, not a post-war souvenir item. In the 1960s it came out of a San Diego collection of one of the founders of the Cross & Cockade society who picked it up from a pilot's family. Perhaps someone will recognize it as having been on a plane photograph they may have seen.
