Hi. i have been study jasta 11 triplanes and have a lot of things that i always wanted to know. the first one are the colours of the triplanes flown by Lt Erich Just and Ltn Siegfried Gussmann??
the second one is about Lt Hans Weiss, did he ever had an all white triplane?

The other one is about jasta boelcke. i saw a photo of jasta 2 triplanes and it seems that they had a triplane marked with a second coss on a white band forward of the original national markings.this machine belongto Lt Richard Plange. The question is what happend to that second crosses in early march when the jasta changed the original crosses to the late slyle. Did he painted them overall or changed that repeted crosses for the late style ones??

thanks a lot. sorry about my english.

Maxall, Welcome to the Drome :)

I will try to answer some of your questions or at least give you some more information to work with.

Lt Erich Just flew Fok 110/17 and was shot down in this plane. He survived the encounter. I could not find a photo of 110/17. It would not be a stretch to say that this plane was of standard finish with typical Jasta 11 markings. Red cowl, struts, wheel covers ect.

I could not find any information for a Dr.I flown by Siegfried Gussmann.

Wiess did not fly a "all white" triplane. It was standard finish with white top wing, tail (top and bottom), rear portion of the fuselage(aft of the national marking) and the turtle deck just behind the cockpit. Struts and cowl and wheels where red. There is a photo in Imries book on page 82.

Thats an interesting question you asked about Lt Richard Plange's plane. The plane you are talking about is 203/17. There are couple of photos around of this plane. Imrie has a nice one on page 42. Plange was killed in this plane on May 19th so it is likely that it would have had its crosses changed by then. I would guess that the cross field in question would have been modified as well or just painted over entirely. You might try looking for the significance of this marking for Plange. Maybe its some old unit thing or something.

Strangely Learmans book has Plange as being KIA in 454/17, Jasta 36 and KIA in 203/17 ,Jasta Boelcke....... In both references it notes them as being (British)G/2Bde/10. Hmmm...

Anyhow, I hope that helps and I am sure others may be able to add more for you.
