Hello together:
In the section Aces/German Air Force/Jagdgeschwader I´m reading the above mentioned title:
The Marine wasn´t Prussian, it was the Imperial Marine, the chief was the emperor (at same time King of Prussia). The right name in my opinion should be Imperial Marine Jagdgeschwader.
In the next step the Marine Jagdgruppe isn´t known to me, did the exist really (maybe in the Eastern Front). In the tales of my childhood I heard only Marine-Feldjagdstaffel and Marine-Jagdgeschwader Flandern.

Hi Klaus,
Kofl 4 Armee mentions indeed a number of times Marine Jagdgruppe in 1918.
As far as I know, this concerns the Marine Jagdgeschwader. Perhaps it included the Seefrosta's also, but I have nothing of evidence in that direction...
Perhaps Gunnar or Rick ????

I think that after MFJ III was formed (23Jun18), then MFJ I, II and III acted as a Jagdgruppe. It wasn't until MFJ IV and V were formed that they all became known as the Marine Jagdgeschwader. R.

Hi Rick,
I 'think' you're quite right ! Marine Jagdgruppe is mentioned for example in April-May 1918 but haven't seen anymore on it in after the formation of IV and V.

Hello, Regulus and Rick:
It seems to me that Rick is right.
But what´s on with the Royal Prussian Marine-JG.
I think it has to be changed into Imperial Marine-Jagdgeschwader.

Hi Klaus,
Interesting thing you mention. Perhaps some people may not agree but I say you're right. In the period 1848-1866 there was a Prussian Navy. Which became later the Flotte des Norddeutschen Bundes and from 1871 on the Kaiserliche Marine.
So nothing Royal or Prussian anymore in the case of the Marine Jagdgeschwader.
But here one can start to discuss something else. It was part of the Marinekorps Flandern it's Luftstreitkräfte. Of course the Marinekorps Flandern was a full part of the Kaiserliche Marine.
So in fact should we say that it was the MJ of the Marinekorps Flandern or from the Imperial Navy ?

Klaus is right!
Army aviation units were Prussian, Bavarian, Saxon or Württemberg but Navy aviation units were Imperial like the Navy itself!
The great Siegert complained bitterly after the war because his demand for an Imperial German Air Force was ignored.
Sadly, sometimes it is hard to correct "established" terms in other languages (like the incorrect and misleading English term "Franco-Prussian War" for 1870/71).

Thank you, Rammjaeger:

I think, you have to beg the webmaster to change in the section Aces Germany the Royal Prussian Marine Jagdgeschwader into Imperial Marine Jagdgeschwader.
Things should be mentioned in the right way.
