There were three aerodromes at Toul: The Aviation Center, Dommartin and Gengault.

In Project Aerodrome, the Avation Center is shown, northeast of the town. The suburb of Dommartin is immediately east of Toul, across the Meuss. Gengault has been described as east of the town of Toul.

Does anyone have a map, or could reference one, showing the locations of Dommartin and Gengault Aerodromes?

I found Dommartin-les-Toul on the right side of the Meuse from Toul from this map website:
http://uk.multimap.com/wi/browse.cgi?client=public&X=655000&Y=6190000&width=500&height=300&gride=&gridn=&srec=0&coordsys=mercator&db=&addr1=&addr2=&addr3=&pc=&advanced=&local=&localinfosel=&kw=&inmap=&table=&ovtype=&keepicon=&zm=0&scale=200000&multimap.x=251&multimap.y=160

There is no indication of Gengault as a place name that might indicate where the aerodrome was. Gondreville (which I thought was an aerodrome) is nearby.

Thanks

I found Dommartin les Toul the same way. However, I am looking for the aerodrome location. Apparently this drome was around after the war and apparently into WWII, as I have stumbled through some French websites. There are some 2006 city planning notes on the web on redeveloping the site, but my French is very poor.

Gengault was a patron saint for the city of Toul and there is a church named for him. But alas, in spite of so much web learning, I have not found the location of this airfield.

As these were USAS aerodomes, I will have to check with folks at the doughboy webpage!

June, 2003, looking roughly Northwest I think at the south boundary of Gengoult Aerodrome. Notice Mont St. Michel in the background, as in the background of many 94th Aero Squadron photos. The south boundary is just this side of the buildings in the center, it's a small road and the only apparent modern connection to the old days, as its name is something like "rue des Cigognes".

And a shot from the other side looking towards the first location. A large factory occupies much of the site, I think it's a tire factory.

I had some maps of the area, but have moved and am not sure if I can easily find them.
