Hi guys,

Well, a couple of months ago, I was sitting in my chair thinking about a new Camel project, browsing pics of certain Camels. After a while, I came across the pictures of the Ruston Camel, the 1000th, and that beautiful paintwork. I have gathered many pictures, and intend to do the build on one of hobbycrafts new redesigned kits (1/32). I only have one question at the moment, the answer to which eludes me. What type of engine was that aircraft fitted with? From the catalog photo, www.oldengine.org/members/ruston/History3.htm , it really does look like a Clerget (the crankcase matches the Clerget better). But I just want to know for sure.

Cheers
Fergus

Hi Fergus,
According to "The Camel File", Sturtivant & Page, B7380 was delivered with a 130hp Clerget 9B. It was delivered to 4AAP for inspection by Sefton Brancker 4/1/18, and arrived at Rec Pk in France 15/2/18. It was returned to England as the colour scheme was unsuitable for fighting purposes 6/3/18.
cheers,
