Weyl, in "Fokker: The Creative Years" (page 280") states that the Benz IIIa "was never tried in the Fok. D.VII", but no explanation is offered as to why this was so. I haven't found any clues in the archives of this forum.
Is it possible that:
a) Fokker didn't consider the Benz to be good enough?
b) There may have been difficulties installing the Benz? The Benz and Mercedes weren't interchangeable in the Roland DVI.
c) There weren't enough available?
d) Fokker was hanging out for the Benz IIIb?
e) Other reasons apply?
f) All of the above apply?
g) One or more of the above apply?
h) None of the above apply?
I think I have all bases covered.
Can anyone provide an explanation for not trying the Benz IIIa? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.
