In addition to my Nieuport 11, I am also working on a Albatros D.III in 1/32 from Roden.

The inside looks like this

http://www.luftwaffe.no/Albatros/Al18.gif

First a cote of Tamiya Tamiya TS 46 Light Sand is painted. Then Burnt Sienna Oil Paint is liberally applied. Then removed with a dry brush

I am waiting for some Eduard etch, so in the meantime I can work on the tail

I was planning to do this bird

http://www.luftwaffe.no/Albatros/Al100.gif

The tail is painted with Vallejo Air 71074 Radome Tan

http://www.luftwaffe.no/Albatros/Al23.gif

Then Burnt Sienna Oil-paint

http://www.luftwaffe.no/Albatros/Al24.gif

Removed

But this time I would try Spada Decals Wood Effect 32-005

http://www.luftwaffe.no/Albatros/Al26.gif

Quite nice effect I would say

Thank You

Olve,
So the last pic of the tail is with a decal applied. I have never heard of these decals. Where are they sold? Looks very good. I wish Roden would do a 1/32nd Alba D.V./D.Va. That would really get me going.

Zabu,
While I appreciate any and all blessings that I can get from God, all I did was post the link to Mike Taylor's site here in the US for Spada decals.
Olve is the chap building the really nice Noop and Albie. :D Your kind words should be directed in his direction. Thanks for the blessing though, much needed today. :)

One tip regarding these decals

The decals are very thin and somewhat difficult to operate. It called Laserline and do not stick well to the surface. So I more or less soacked the area with Future clear polish and then put the decals on. In this way it will stick and not tare off with masking tape. One panel is taken and excess decal removed with a sharp knife. Then the next. A messy and boring job, but nice when done.

But today disaster struck. Being a little over confidence with my airbrush I totally destroyed all my work. (the red colorband for the fuselage got all over the place)
So off with it and try again :p

But I will not give up, so stay tune

Olve,
I recenly ordered some Nieuport decals from Spada, so your progress and comments are of great interest to me. Are you saying you had to put down a wet coat of Future/Klear to get the decals to conform?

Hello Warren
You dont have to, but in this way the decals will stick very hard to the surface and you will avoid silvering on the decals. I worked well for me

I didn't have any problems what so ever laying them down. I knew I too would want to mask over them with out pulling them up SO I followed SPADA's recommmendation to add a few drops of White (Elmers) Glue to the Decal water. They laid down well over compound curves and a little Micro-SOL Decal Setting Fluid softened and drew them over what ever bumby detail was under them. I finshed them with a coat of future to seal them on. THese were my results here.

This is what I had left after covering one panel twice to correct a mistake and paneling each panel seperately for the whole fuselage.

And these where the tools I used to measure the width and depth of each panel and cut them from the sheet with a NEW blade and a Metal Straight Edge.

Ive got a BIg Update to complete to the MK site and I hope to make more clear some tips and SPADA Ordering.
UNlike other Decal COmpanies ALL SPada Decals are Print to Order. Meaning WHAT EVER scale you want for the profile it is available. THey normally take apx two weeks to process. I have had some trouble keeping track of back orders but I am catching up.

STUNNIG ? I am Blushing For sure. I thank you greatly. You have helped inspire me to finish that on going project ASAP. It actualy is a Conversion for the ROden Alb and I hope to make more significant progress this month on it ? I haven't finished a Kit in FOur Years so I can only be optomistic at this point. Good news is ALL three toddlers will attend Part Time Pre-school for the first time! This means any tuesday or thursday I am home I theroeticly should have up to 12hrs free uninterupted Hobby time ! Yay ! (Assuming there's enough left over to send the wifey window shopping ?)

Dear Ross I ve been slowed down in prep for the IPMS Convention and just recently returned from there.
Here was another entry this year dressed in MK Early Alb Colors :

I have a large re-organizational Update to make to the WWI ACFT Color Site to accomoadate all the new profiles. More 2 and 3 in One Sets are available.
Marc is feverishly working on the LOZ Series and is very close to printing. I can't begin to describe how complicated it is to adjust the hues on a Monitor in order to came out right or even just the same on a Sheet of Printed paper. However He has made some great progress and has based the individual Chip colors on references provided by WWI Documentation Services's Dan San Abotts. There are so many critical eyes waiting to judge the results many of whom have strong opinions. I tended to belive as most former Americal's sheets were the best. They were for the times. Dans Actual Color chips are even more accuarte and correct. SO we should see something completely new within the next month or two.
I have a line on a Roden Wholesaler and I hope to make an order ASAP in order to bring there large scale kits here to the US for a much more Fair MArket Value than the Fleecing we have been subjected to by MMD. I have to tied down the Credit fo the First Order and see how much the shipping will cost and how long it will take to fill but that again is a High Proirty for me right now too.

I think this has been a great year for WWI Hobbies and hope it will get even better.

There was rumors of a Special Hobby Walfish in Developement at the show and the Moldings for Eduards new quarter Scale DrI were suberb. I think that will really satisfy and make a lot of quarter Scael guys happy when it comes out.
Yours Mike

Mike,
Great shots of the Fritz Award winning model you posted there, that gentleman certainly deserves it! :goggles:
Also great news about the possibility of your becoming an outlet for Roden kits for those of us that do not want to feed the monster MMD! Will you import their 1/48th and 1/72nd kits as well?
Looking forward to an e-mail from you telling me my decals are in. :pplane:

Hello MGTaylor

I am sure that white wood glue will work just as fine as Future polish.

Future will do Iam sure. Little longer drying time I expect as you say ?

I heard of that tip as well at the convention from a many time award winner. After he slides the decal from the backing after soaking it in water, He takes teh decal by a corner and dips it in a small pool of future. He says he simply lays it down and postions it once and lets it draw in by itself. I haven't tried it myself yet. But will i hope soon.

Yes I can get their (Roden) Line, 72nd ad 48th. Email me the favorites ?
