Greetings All,
It has be a rather long time since I posted on the forum, and I'd just like to mention a still popular game that I enjoy playing, and creating new paint schemes for. Red Baron 2 and 3d.
I play this game quite a bit and have been at quite an impressive hieght of flying and dogfighting. I am averaging 120 + kills at maxium difficulty. I was just wondering if anyone would like to discuss their flight ablities on simulation games.

I fly with the name Jon "Westly" Aburn RFC, Vincent Drake ESC 15 and ESC 3 French
or Maxwell "Chow" Stien,
As "Westly" I fly in the D.H.2,Camel, and Snipe.
As "Chow" I fly Hal., Albatross D III and D Va.
As "Vinnie" I fly the Nueiport 11, Spad VII and
Spad XIII.
In RB 2 and RB 3 Spad XIII and the Albatross Dva are the best to fly.
What do you think of the game, and what are you preferred boxes.

I love RB2 but i don't like 3D so much 'cause of its bad flight model...
My preferred plane in RB2 is Fokker DrI, i love it for its fantastic turns.
I like Snipe and Camel also and Albatros DIII...i've just now learned how to manage the speed and avoid wings failures.

There are an incredible number of new flight models for RB3d, give them a try. I particularly liked the one by Lead Sled. Go to:

http://vonoben.free.fr/Beery/Beery.htm

for a very good Flight Model to RB3d. Alternatively, use Google to do a search for RB3d and "flight model".

Thx Miles...i'll do a look at that site... :)
But, let me know...the new flight models are available for RB3D multiplayer also?
I haven't the full version of the game...just RB2 updated to 3D... :-/

S! and fly high.

100% realism eh? do u use the 'radar' keys at all or just the hat views to dogfight with?
which flight model are u using? rb2 or rb3d's stock advanced flt mode? if rb3d, are u using the ridiculous damage modeling to take down your opponents?

lose sight lose the fight...

just curious....

I shot down JG1 "Kessler" a couple times.

Pen,

>I shot down JG1 "Kessler" a couple times.

I was always good for cannon fodder at the hands of the well trained squaddies. The next classic WWI sim will need to have Brisfits and RE8's so I can contribute meaningfully....... ;)

heh I was trying to show the mighty Greyhawk the true measuring stick.

Kess should take it as a huge compliment. As you said Ronbo, everyone else I can't remember how many times I shot them down or vice versa. Battles with careful Kessler were always memorable, even on a public server. Somehow the "Kali" days are still my fav memories thou.

Trying to compare abilities using the A.I as a yardstick just makes me laugh. About the only way i'd be impressed that way, is "fly now", player in a morane and A.I in a Dr1. Player gets 4+ kills then runs out of ammo. That's pretty good lol

Don't sell yourself short there Cam, I remember you handling the Stock rb3d camel damn well. God i miss the dr1 vs camel server with 30+ players.

Getting BECLEMPT! Talk amoungst yourselves... the topic is Osama Bin Laden.

yep, the true measure in the sim would be to use only the hat view keys, no restarts, and fly the actual route realtime. using only luck, your eyes, and then skill to survive!

i forgo the realtime flying, takes too long... and i did it enough flying online.... sheesh.... :-/ :P

Hehe, old-timers here thinking of fights gone by.

I remember winging with you Ronbo in J1 during the GW. Fun times!

Pend, enough said, we usually fought on the same side, thank goodness.

Hi

I fly RB3D regularly and belong to the online squadron Royal Air Corps (RAC).

I love this game in its online version because it is phenomenally difficult. Most of the chaps and chappesses flying RB3D online have done so for a lot longer than me so the standard of opposition one meets is extremely high. It takes a lot of flying to master this game - and I mean a LOT!

One of the above contributors mentions the DrI for its great turning. In truth the DrI is "modelled" to be a much better plane than anything else on either side. Not only does it out-turn everything else, it climbs strongly and is very damage - resistant (not a realistic characteristic, from what I can gather!). So it is pretty easy to fly a DrI badly and still seem to be doing OK in the game.

It gets a lot harder if one flies the other craft. They all have their own flight characteristics and it takes time to learn how to get the best out of each plane. Many of us, thus, scorn flying the DrI because it takes so much less skill.

My own favourite is the Camel. The DVII isn't bad, although not as "tough" as one would like. The SE5a is less stable than it was in reality and is a pig to turn but otherwise is a great plane in the game.

Sadly, there are no two-seaters . . .

Regards to all
