Beautiful planes, and very impressive photos. How do you manage to get such sharp closeup photos of planes in flight?

Hi Steve,
Thanks! I use a Nikkor VR 100-300mm (on a DSLR it's a 150 to 450mm) zoom lens on my D80. The lens does have image stabilization (VR), an that does help a lot. Plus, I try not to waste too many shots if the lighting isn't good, and wait until they're in fairly close if I can.
That field was exceptionally nice for photography too. And many of these werew 1/3 scale birds, and that helps.
I do take most of them into PhotoShop after, but don't do whole lot to them there usually. Mostly just minimal cropping, and tweaking the lighting and contrast a little. I have been doing this for about 30 years too, so that helps a little. :)
Glad you liked them!

A great collection of photos - I wished I had made it to see them in person. Keep up the good work,
