Flight Journal is seeking hi-quality, hi-resolution images of:

Fokker Tripe
SE-5
Camel
SPAD (VII or XIII)

They can be b&w or colo(u)r, historic or current as long as the latter are authentic reproductions (replicas won't do--no tailwheels or radial engines, ferinstance.)

Approximate specs are 300+ dpi and as big a file as possible. 4 meg is a good starter.

FJ does pay but I can't cite a rate because it's still being determined! However, it's a fair guess that additional pix will be required downstream.

Contact me offline if you prefer.

Willi:

Was this a photo in the Rahn Photo album? It doesn't sound like one I have seen before.

Its a close view of his DR1 from behind-left and he is posing, facing the camera with his left arm rested behind the cockpit.I don't think the photo was ever published and it shows his diamond and ribbon insignia clearly.

Hi Barret,

I have a Fokker Dr.I off and behind a captured British SPAD.
Also the captured SPAD alone with the Victor posing on it.

I have a Pup and maybe a Camel in German Battledress.

I don't know if I have an S.E.5a in German markings, but definitely one with 95th Aero Squadron markings.

Should have a Fokker D.VII "U 10" with 95th AERO insignia.

With out actually searching, that is the best I can come up with.

Is the Flight Journal offering to pay for use or are they paying for rights?

Let me know if I can be of help.

Best Wishes, Jay

In case you hadn't noticed, there is a pattern to my madness!

Gents: to repeat, FJ does in fact pay for images it uses. I don't know the details because I sell words rather than photos (!) but the editor will be able to tell you. I'm pleased to see any prospects so feel free to send me a PM.

Hi Willi,

Yes we can all have the same foto!
Ninety plus years ago, and even today, it was not uncommon to print several prints off of a negative. Some people even have original negatives, celluloid or glass, that they can still produce 1st generation copies off of the negative.
I have seen the same original foto show up on ebay more than once (F.103/17 for instance!).

Best Wishes, Jay

P.S. LLoyd as well as others also trade and or supply each other with scans of original fotografs for personal as well as publishing on sites or for other published media applications.

That reminds me Lloyd, I may have some nice Dr.I fots that you may or may not have yet.

Oh uh,well that makes sense then:blush:Yaaay,I got a negative of the photo!
But I also have a picture that Im unsure if it authentic or a repro. Its an image of Von Schoenbeck posing in front of an Albatros C.XII (?) with a little wind generated prop on the right landing gear strut.Im a bit suspicous because on the back it say's "Reproduction not permitted!" and a small red 16.It does have faint logos that reads,"Agfa",in blue with two lines under it.But Agfa's current logo is a diamond. The pic is about 3X5 inches. Can anyone help me?

Whilli:

This photo is part of the Rahn Photo album. I believe his collection is at the USAF museum. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

FOKKERJ is correct. since these photos are 90 years old I sure that that have been scanned a couple of times and who knows were the original glass plates are but many more copies could have been bad from them.

So here it is, this photo was provided by Taz.

I made it small because it kinda large file and there's no watermark on it yet.

Over the years a lot of early collectors acquired copies and or originals, which they in turn made negatives and then copies of for the purpose of selling for a profit and also to share with fellow enthusiast. It was common for them to stamp on the back: their name and or "Collection Of ________.
Do not Copy or Reproduce".
I question the legalities of this since some of the same images are in the IMPERIAL WAR MUSEUM among other sources where they may have been acqired from.
