Eduard never did any Skeletal kits in 1/48, but I know a Japanese company did do some....... Now maybe someone else out there can jar my memory? I know for fact they did a DR.I, not sure about the Camel though.....? They show up on eBay from time to time.....

Greetings Ken,
That Japanese company is Aerobase. The do skeletal models but the only WWI kit in 1:48 is the Fokker Dr.I. I did a couple of these.

Howdy,
Wasn't there a French company that did 1/48 kits that you covered in tissue? I believe they did a Spad VII among others.

Just remebered, it was AJP.

Stephen Thanks ......... for jogging my memory.... I have always been curious about the Dr.I
Is it a decent model? Does it have potential?
Too bad they don't do a Camel ............
Ken
The wings of the Aerobase Dr.I are good. The fuselage should better be remade using plastic or brass rod, since the flat structure is highly noticeable in 1:48. Wheels, guns and engine are really crude and need substitutes. Same for the engine cover. But with a lot of patience and a few aftermarket items anice uncovered (or half-covered) model can be made.

Mike,
I have a 1/48 photo etch Nieuport 11 by a french firm AUD (or AJD)? Maquettes. Cowl, engine, prop, lewis gun and wheel rims are cast metal. It has rubber o rings for tires. The rest is on one sheet of photo etch to be covered with tissue(?). Havn't had the courage to try it yet.

Russ,
WOW I wonder if they make any other aircraft types? Maybe Mike will find his Sopwith Camel after all?
Ken
Here's a link to their website:
AJP MAQUETTES .COM (http://www.ajp-maquettes.com/Dossier%20Anglais/Collection%20Grande%20Guerre%20liste%20-%20anglais%20.htm)
No Sopwith Camel evident, but a lot of other interesting types.

Hey guys... I did a little "Google" search for AUD and AJD Maquette models. I got nada, zip, zilch. BUT I did find and outfit called Aero Base that makes a slew of 1/160 completely p/e kits. They aren't cheap by any means. But the selection is right up our alley. A Junkers D-1, An Airco DH2 a Bleriot XI The Spirit of St. Lousi and one or two more. Plus a 1/1000 dirigble.. super tiny.
Just a little FYI.

Thanks for the link. Yes that's the one. The logo is a bit confusing but it is definetly AJP! I hadn't noticed the japan paper was in the kit.

The company does recommend you use the DML 1:48 kit to augment it. But the Aerobase wings are 1/16 inch longer in chord than the DML.

John... the majority of what I saw on the Aero Base home page was in 1/160 scale...only the dirigible was 1/1000 scale. The dirigibles would make nice earrings for the wife.
