Mates,
I am in a bit of a quandary at the moment, as I seem to have forgotten where Kasta 26 of Kagohl 5, Kagohl 7 of KG 40 and AFP 6 were located and in addition who were their commanders during 1916?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance.

Mate

If I knew I'd tell you. I've always thought we WW1 air war enthusiasts should all be pulling in the same direction (towards historical truth & accuracy), but sadly, my experience is that is not the case.

Best of luck.

Mate,
Thanks for the info. I had thought that this info was common knowledge, but apparently I was wrong. How did these units fall through the cracks through the years concerning information like: the who, what, when, where, why.

Great info to at least have a starting point. Is there any books out there that deal with the Kasta's and the AFP's been published?

P.S. I have a note in my records that indicates that Kasta 26 and Kasta 40 merged on 16 Jul 1916. tc

Hi Tom,
I have that Hptm Hans Linke was in command of Kasta 26 in October 1916, but I believe that he was killed in action around this time. Not sure who replaced or preceded him.

Regards,
Matt.

Hi Tom,
I have Hptm (Wilhelm?) Habrecht as CO of AFP 6, but no dates...
Maybe one of our other members can provide a service record for him?

Regards,
Matt.

According to the Casualties of the German Air Service, was Hans Linke killed as a pilot of Kasta 25/KG 5 on 23 November 1916 near Vaux forest. Also his observer Lt. d. Res. Steinbrenner. Maybe Kasta 25/KG 5 is a typo?

Hi

Up to 0716 it actually existed two different AFP 6, AFP 6a and AFP 6b.
It is funny but AFP 6b was the Prussian unit.!
Habrecht was not there during 1916.

Hi,
I must have written Kasta 26 instead of Kasta 25 in error. I stand corrected.
Sorry for giving wrong info.
