According to "The Camel File", Camel D9518 went to the 3rd Aviation Instruction Center, Issoudun on 21 July 1918.

There are no further comments for this machine. Presumably a training accident -from the way the wings have "collapsed", maybe landed too high and pancaked?

It looks like it hit on the nose off to one side, perhaps a spin of some kind. The front cabanes are gone as the engine pushed back at an angle. Lots of energy. Interestingly, the nose of the front cabane teardrop is gone.

Lots of interesting crash photos of all eras in that set.

Like Graeme said ,it looks like a traing accident ,looks like he nosed in hard from the looks of that cowling ,they were pretty tricky to fly, many new pilots only flew it once......
