29 MAY 1917

Artillery Co-operation — Fifty-eight targets were dealt with by aeroplane observation and 145 by balloon observation.

Casualties –

2nd Lt M J L Murray (Kia) & Lt G M Dick (Kia), 5 Sqn, RE8 A4221 – took off 15:00/16:00 then attacked by HA and seen to go down in flames on artillery observation over Gavrelle; Ltn Karl Allmenroder, Ja11, 22nd victory [Oppy at 16:50/17:50]

Lt E A Worrall (Wia), 100 Sqn, FE2b A841 – took off 22:45/23:45 and caught fire at 300 feet due incendiary bullet piercing petrol tank; force landed Pont-a-Achelle [Le Pont d'Achelles intended? This north-west of Nieppe] and destroyed by fire on special bombing Lille

Losses:

Vfw Willy Glinkermann, Js15, KIA over Orgeval. No other info.

Allmenroder's claim for a BE jenseits. I have it pilot seen to fall (jump?) out.
