I'm looking for an image or specifics for the 'Gothania' logo seen on WW 1 German aero tires.
Anyone?

It is indeed very tiny, but I'll try to find a better example.

Thanks everyone!
What I want is a tire pic so I can make a decal of the lettering. What has been supplied is very good too though!

Just had that lying back in the garden shed did we? And an apology for being a "little fuzzy?" The depth and breadth of knowledge so readily available on this site never ceases to amaze me. You could spend months searching the net and not find anything, but here the answer is available, with pictures(!), in less than 12 hours!

I have a large collection of data both paper and electronic that covers a wide range of topics from 1890 to 1960, mainly around aircraft, vehicles, ships, railways and weapons. So if people ask questions I'm sure I'll have something on the subject.

A lot of the data comes from the web, but also from magazines and books.

So just ask and I'll see if there is anything in the archive in the "back of the shed".

I think it depends very much "from where you search". Here in Germany I just wrote "Gothania Reifen" and "Gothania Reifenwerbung" and quickly got some results (although only one with the requested logo).

So a German researcher surely will get somehow different results by using special German key-words when a search with only the original term is of no success.

I had the same experience several times, when I was asking for "English and French things" - I found nothing and some French and English/American Forumites found very usable stuff...

Your correct I often use German terms for searching out things. As well as other languages, Google translator is one of my main tools.

There were two very good photos of a Gothania tire posted on The Aerodrome on 8 Sept. 2004. The posted images were of an ersatz tire of mid-1918 manufacture. Ransom

Krow: I just have my brief notes based on print outs I made. The original posting was by Marco Sommerau, so perhaps his name will help in pinpointing this material. Good luck! Ransom

The day will come when someone is looking for the Gotha trademark or logo, and now that I've included the word "Gotha", any search for it will come here. So your post will eventually be appreciated by somebody.
