Hi,

Does anyone know at which airfield FA (A) 221 was based at the start of June 1917?

TIA,

Wiking

Hi Jos,

It most certainly does help. Many thanks.

The reason I asked was because of this photo on ebay, which unusually has an informative text on the reverse:

Hello all,

The text on the backside of the card reads:

"The plane in which I went up on 4.6.17. Feldflieger Abteilung 221, Bisseghem A.O.K. 4."

As I’m not an expert on identifying planes I wonder why the name Albatros (with - I think- a question mark) is written on this card. Alas, the thumb covers partly a word written above “ Albatros”, so this doesn’t help very much.

According to the KTB of FA(A) 221 this plane arrived on 19-04-1917 as A.E.G. C.IV 6653/16 and was sent to AFP 4 on 21-05-1917.

Can anyone help?

Regards,

Jos

Hi Jos,

Not sure that I can add anything. But it seems that you have all the information to hand, an AEG C.IV of FA(A) 221 at Bisseghem. What further informtion were you looking for? Presumably the unknown Albatros reference?Just a thought, and it may not be pausible - is there any possibility that it is a word ending in Korps rather than Albatros?

Thanks btw for posting the images.

Regards,

Wiking
