You would have to have two of them wouldn't you? It would be a crime to split a pair up 🍐🍐!

So they fired a black powder round? I have a 11x59R Gras model Mle.1874 rifle with original Gevelot brass. I've turned the Berdan cases into Boxer type of primers to reload easier.

Yes, they made some Vickers to fire the larger Gras round for 'Balloon Busting'.
This example could probably be repaired to firing status, but ammunition is going to be a challenge. A brief search shows that dies are available, and something like .50-110 Winchester cases could be modified, but that's a project, which is definitely reflected in the price. A Vickers in .303 is would likely reach $30k+.

Good to know and definitely more than I want to pay for original parts. I'll add building two Vickers to the job list. A while back I found some vids on building propane powered MGs which looked interesting and doable.

Regarding Vickers Mk 1 * , MGs ...
Probably people might find that , depending on the accuracy required ,...the fluted water jacket is challenging ,...apart of course , from the feed blocks which are equally challenging when replicating the LMG . 08/15 .

I am still in the trenches. I just moved to another state. Everything I own is sitting in storage here or at my former employer. He wants to fly me back in 2 to 4 months tops for contract work. I am negotiating with him on feed block machining. It is a bit above my skillset.
I am starting a new job next Monday and house hunting. There will not be any chance of progress until I have a permanent roof over my head and unpack my computor, notebooks and tools.
Best Regards,
Tony
PS Jim, you will get the first pair. I can wait for mine. I have enough aluminum blanks for 4 pair.
