the following are the aircraft types Paul Bäumer most likely scored in:

kills #1-16 Albatros D.V
kills #17-18+20 Albatros D.Va
kills #19+21-22 Fokker Dr.I
kills #23-43 Fokker D.VIIF

The last volume of the wonderful BLUE MAX AIRMEN series describes an association of Bäumer with a Fokker D.VII with machine guns in low position, suggesting a Mercedes-engined type:

However, at the beginning of September Jasta 2 had Fokker D.VIIF's availabe and Bäumer was Bolle's most successful ace. He would have granted him one of the BMW-engined Fokkers for his September/October missions, wouldn't he?

Conclusion: the aircraft that Paul Bäumer used for scoring are well-defined. The least clear aspect is the question if he used a Fokker D.VII or Fokker D.VIIF in September/October 1918.
