A friend of mine came acrossed a medal at a relatives house and we can not find out anything about it. It was he grandfathers, or so he was told, and would like to know more about it if possible. On the front is a portrait of a man with a medium length beard and short hair. Along the outer edge is writing that says"WILHELM II KOENIG VON WUERTTEMBERG". On the back is writing in the center that says"FUR TAPFERKEIT UND TREUE". It is on a ribbon that is medium yellow with two black stripes , one on each side with a small strip of yellow on the outside edge. It is silver in color. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

Sounds like a WWI Wurttemberg Bravery Medal.

Thank you very much for the information. Do you know of any sites that I can look up more information about this particular medal or a list of names of men who had recieved this medal?

The Wuerttemberg Silver Merit Medal was relatively common, being given out over 2.7 million times just to Wuerttembergers, alone. I seriously doubt such a list of recipients is available.

The silver bravery medal was awarded to the common soldiers. The gold bravery medal was reserved for non-commissioned officers.
