* Lately I have visited the web page of Flying-machines, a book publisher
* (http://www.flying-machines.com/), a couple of times trying to find info there
* about their new books in preparation for the next issuing time, fall 2002.
* Concerning its habit the publisher should have advertised them at latest from
* this March, but there is no sign of it there.

* (Long ago the publisher indicated that it had some long range projects, like a
* book on Austro-Hungarian Navy Aircraft, another one on the Italian Aces of WWI
* as well as on Italian WWI aircraft.)

* I wonder if you know more about it?

I don't have an answer to your question... but it remembers me on another book project!

Besides the books mentioned by faszekaszs, has anyone news concerning Neal O'Connors vol. VII of the Aviation Awards, which ought to be published by Schiffer?

Welcome to The Aerodrome fazekaszs. Look around, I think you'll find a lot of interesting information here and a lot of people who are willing to help. I can see you contributing a lot as well.

The only book projects I know of that have been announced are two by Schiffer. One on Italian aces (not sure what this means for the announced FMP one), and the other being the last by Neal O'Connor. The Rosemont Hobby Shop site lists both as "due in", but doesn't list a date.

Thanks for the kind invitation at the forum, and the answers. I remember I printed ot long ago a page about the upcoming projects, so on next Monday I can quote it more precisely.

I can shed some light on all of the questions raised.

It was recently stated by one of the board members of the late Neal O'Connors "Foundation for Aviation World War One" that Schiffer is going ahead with Neal O'Connor's vol. VII. Earlier on it was stated that they had shelved it. Some behind the scenes work must have gone on to make this happen. Supposedly a Fall/Winter 2002 timeframe now.

There are a number of books in preparation by Flying Machines Press at the moment that will interest WWI fans. Among the projects is one by Peter M. Grosz. I am not at liberty to tell the subject matter, but can say there will be more titles coming along by the likes of Colin Owers, Peter M. Bowers, Peter Schiemer and others. The Austro-Hungarian Seeflugzeuge project manuscript is in German at the moment, I have seen it. The plan is to translate it and publish it. No firm deadline. But there are plans to do a number of Austro-Hungarian and Italian projects, as well as German and Allied.

I can't give any clearer details than that without divulging more than I should without permission. I guess patience is necessary. Expect at least one new title before Winter. I will say this much, it is on a famous French WWI Aircraft company's products.

... I did the photo restorative work for the book and have handed off my part of the project. There are around 300 photos in the book, plus color profiles, and line drawings by Martin Digmayer.

Thanks for Cigogne for the detailed information and for the good news.

Here is the quotation from the FMP page on upcoming projects I downloaded on 04,05,2000:

"Mid 1999
.
.
.
II. Longer range projects we have in the works include hard-bound books on Italian aces and Seeflieger, the Austro-Hungarian naval aircraft, which will be a companion work to our earlier Austro-Hungarian Army Aircraft of World War One."

Regarding the aviation of the western front there are lots of books from different publishers, however considering the other fronts (Italian, Eastern, Balkan, Middle East, and so on) the books are scarce. That is why it is good to have such a publisher like FMP, because FMP covers some of these relatively unknown areas as the only publisher - as far as I know.
