Hopping 'Mad Major'

LONDON (AP) — Christopher Draper, the "mad major" who once flew under 15 Thames River bridges in a row, has had his flying license revoked.
Not for the 1953 bridge exploit, the 72-year-old ace hastened to explain, but because the Air Ministry claimed his health was no longer up to pilot's standards.
The major, who flew with the Royal Naval Air Service in both world wars, said the crowning blow was that the revocation order was signed by a woman.
